New UN Resident Coordinator Presents Letter of Credentials to Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

PHNOM PENH: Following the UN Secretary-General’s appointment of the new United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, Joseph Scheuer of Luxembourg presented his letter of credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Royal Government of Cambodia, DPM Prak Sokhonn, to officially take up his assignment in the country.

During the UN Resident Coordinator’s courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, he expressed his appreciation for the excellent partnership between the Royal Government and the UN and discussed future opportunities in the context of the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2024-2028. He also recognized and expressed his appreciation of Cambodia's contributions to UN Peacekeeping Operations since 2006.

“I look forward to collaborate with the Royal Government and partners in developing the new UN Cooperation Framework with Cambodia for 2024-2028 in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Scheuer.

“Through our cooperation, we will focus on key priority areas for transformative impact, such as human capital development, addressing inequality, green economy and digital transformation, benefiting all Cambodians and ensuring that no one is left behind.”

The United Nations Country Team in Cambodia consists of more than 20 agencies, funds, and programs. For over three decades, the UN in Cambodia has been working closely with the Royal Government, development partners, civil society, and the people of Cambodia for sustainable development, enhancing resilience, sustaining peace and promoting human rights in the country.
